Day 1: Kandy–Pinnawala–Sigiriya

You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel by a representative of the Coconut Tours. We will start our day with the journey from Kandy to Pinnawala. We will visit the Millennium Elephant Foundation, where you can get close to one of the world’s most magnificent creatures – Elephants. After the visit of the foundation our journey will proceed to Sigiriya. There we will continue our adventure with an elephant ride around the Sigiriya Lake. We will spend the first night in Sigiriya.

Day 2: Sigiriya–Polonnaruwa–Habarana

Today we will look at Sri Lanka from a different perspective. We will have the unique opportunity to fly in a hot air balloon and admire the beautiful country side around Sigiriya. In the afternoon we will visit Polonnaruwa. The second Ancient Capital of Sri Lanka. We will take a cycle tour around the ancient city and see the Royal Pavilion, Thuparamaya, Watadagaya (circular stupa), Uththararamaya (Galvehare) where the reclining Buddha statue is, Lankathilanka – the oldest Buddhist temple, and so much more. The night will be spend in Habarana.

Day 3: Kandy–Knuckles Range

After an early breakfast we will leave Kandy and proceed to Knuckles Mountain Range. This is the region for trekking and hiking. It stretches an impressive 155sq.km with five major forest formations, a wide variety of rare and endemic flora and fauna and mountain scenery. This is where we will trek through the forest. We will walk for a few hours to reach our camping site, where we will spend the night. You will be able to see rare Endemic species of Birds, Animals, Flora and Fauna etc. We will camp overnight in knuckles mountain area.

Day 4: Knuckles Range–Kithulgala

In the morning we will continue our trip to Kithulgala. On our way we will stop at the nearby Tea factory to see how the world famous Ceylon tea is made. Kithulgala is famous for white water rafting in the Kelani River with encounters of grade 2 & 3 rapids and relaxing walks in the village. After getting all the equipment and safety instructions we will wake up the adventurous soul in us! It’s time for rafting! The night will be spend in Kithulgala.

Day 5: Kithulgala–Horton Plains–Kandy

On our fifth day we will proceed to Horton Plains National Park early in the morning, located in the Nuwara Eliya area. The coldest and windiest location in Sri Lanka consists of ecosystems such as mountain evergreen forests, grasslands, marshy lands and aquatic ecosystem. It has an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s time for trekking! You will be able to see cloud forests and rare montane fauna which include the Endemic Rhino Horned lizard, Bear-monkey, Giant squirrels and Sambhur. We will also look for endemic birds such as yellow-eared Bulbul, Hill white-eye and dull blue Flycatcher. We will walk through the grasslands up to the view point known as the “Worlds End”. After our trek we will return to Kandy. (Depending on your request drop-offs at other places are also available.)
