Bentota Beach

Day 1: Kandy–Kithulgala–Horton Plains–Nuwara Eliya

You will be picked up in the morning at your hotel by a representative of the Coconut Tours. We will be picked up by our driver and head off to Kithulgala. Kithulgala is famous for white water rafting in the Kelani River with encounters of grade 2 & 3 rapids and relaxing walks in the village. After getting all the equipment and safety instructions we will wake up the adventurous soul in us! It’s time for rafting! In the afternoon we will proceed to Horton Plains National Park early in the morning, located in the Nuwara Eliya area. It’s time for trekking! You will be able to see cloud forests and rare montane fauna which include the Endemic Rhino Horned lizard, Bear-monkey, Giant squirrels and Sambhur. We will also look for endemic birds such as yellow-eared Bulbul, Hill white-eye and Dull blue Flycatcher. We will walk through the grasslands up to the view point known as the “Worlds End”. We will spend the night in Nuwara Eliya

Day 2: Nuwara Eliya–Ella–Yala National Park

In the morning a train will take us from Nanuoya to Ella. The train ride in the observation compartment offers an amazing and unforgettable view of the uphill country. After the train ride we will continue our way to Yala. It’s time for an amazing adventure, afternoon safari by jeep at Yala National Park. It has one of the highest densities of Leopards in world and considering that it’s the best place in Asia to see one of them. Other large animals that live there and we might see are: Elephants, Sloth Bears, mugger Crocodiles, Spotted deer, sambhurs, deer, Wild Boars, Reptiles and a big diversity of birds. The safari is followed by an overnight stay in Yala. (Instead of spending the night in a guest house you have the option of sleeping in a tree house or camp in the jungle).

Day 3: Yala–Matara–Marissa

In the morning we will continue our trip. Our first stop is Matara which historically belongs to the area that is called Ruhuna. It was one of the three kingdoms in Sri Lanka. In Matara we will visit the Parey Duwa Buddhist Temple that is situated on a small island and connected to the land with a bridge. In the afternoon we will head to Mirissa where we can enjoy various water sports. Overnight stay in Mirissa.

Day 4: Marissa–Ahangama–Hikkaduwa

We will start fourth day of the trip with whale and dolphin watching in Mirrisa. Get ready to be amazed! In the afternoon we will proceed to Hikkaduwa. On our way we will observe the stilt fisherman at work in Ahangama. Our afternoon activities in Hikkaduwa will be surfing and snorkeling on the coral riff.

Day 5: Hikkaduwa–Bentota–Colombo

In the morning we will leave Hikkaduwa and drive up to Bentota. The small town is famous for its turtle hatcheries and we will visit one of them to see how they take care of the turtles and learn something new about the nature. The visit is followed by a Lagoon boat ride. In the afternoon we will have time to enjoy the tropical sandy beach and some coral watching. Most of the water spots are available in this area. In the evening we will drop you off in Colombo. (Depending on your request you can stay in the beach area. Drop-offs at other places are also available.)
